How much does it cost to play?
$180 per team
How many players on each team?
Maximum 6 players (including the goalie)
Is there a rain date?
Games are played rain or shine
Must I register on a team or can I register as an individual?
You must register on a team
Can teams be co-ed or female only?
Yes, all divisions are open to both male and female players
What is the definition of 4 on 4?
3 players and a goalie on the surface at a time.
Additional players are permitted on the team but changes must be made on the fly. (Maximum 5 players plus a goalie per team)
How long are the games?
Games are 21 minutes long for Novice through Bantam division with a 3 minute transition time between games
What is the tournament structure? How many games do I play?
The tournament is a 3 game guarantee for Novice through Bantam divisions, after your 3 games you must continue to win in order to advance
How long do I have between each game?
This depends on your individual team schedule. If you continue to advance, wait times to play will be shorter.
How many teams are in each age category?
There are 8 teams in each category. This may change based on registration.
How big are the playing surfaces?
Each surface is 100 x 50 feet
What are the boards made of?
The boards are wire fencing. The sides are 4 feet high, the ends are 8 feet in height
What size are the nets?
Nets are regulation size hockey nets
Initiation level nets will be street hockey nets.
What type of balls are used?
Balls are regular street hockey (not the very hard one’s)
What equipment do I need?
- Hockey stick may be composite, plastic or wood. All sticks must be free of sharp edges or fragmented blades and shafts.
- Hockey gloves are recommended
- Shin protection of some sort is recommended
- Good pair of running shoes
- Jock is recommended
- Helmets are mandatory for all age categories with face shield.
- Mouth guard is not required
What goalie equipment is required? Is equipment provided?
Goalies must wear full equipment at all levels
Equipment is not provided or available on site
Does Top Shelf provide jerseys?
T-shirts are provided to each team-one size fits all applicable to age groups. (Included in registration fee)
Pinnies will also be on-site
What time does the tournament start and end?
Start time is 9:00 am
Estimated end time is 4:30-5:00 pm unless your team is eliminated early
What do teams win?
Each player on the winning team receives a Top Shelf hockey jersey
When and Where is registration?
Registration is only available on-line
There will be a parent/player T-shirt pick up/information night prior to the tournament day. Details will be posted at a later date.
Where can I get a waiver form?
Forms are available here or can be picked up at the parent-player info night or at the registration tent on event day. As a reminder if a player waits to event day they must have a parent or guardian available to sign the waiver form on-site prior to play or bring the signed form with them.
Who do I give my waiver form to?
Waiver forms can be submitted at the parent-player info night or handed in at the registration tent on event day
All players must have a signed waiver form completed and signed by a parent-guardian over the age of 18. There are no exceptions to this rule. A player will not be permitted to participate in a game without a signed form.
Are there things to do between games?
Yes, there will be additional activities on site- No charge for these
Will I be able to buy food and drinks at the event?
There will be a free pancake breakfast from 8:00-10:00 am compliments of MPP Lisa Macleod. The will also be the Independent Grocer Food Truck on site from 11:30-1:30 pm compliments of Kelly Ross. Some sponsors may have complimentary munchies at their display booths for sampling. If there are dietary restrictions and or allergies we recommend a packed lunch.
